SoundFind โ Privacy Policy
- SoundFind is a game for all ages. It never asks who is playing, so it can't tell an adult from a child. That's why every ad in the game is set to be suitable for all ages: ads are rated for a general audience, and they are not personalised or based on what you do in other apps.
- You don't need an account, and the game never asks for your name, email or age.
- Your progress and settings are saved in the app on your device.
- If the app hits an error, or a recorded word or phrase fails to play, a short technical report helps us fix it. It contains no name, account, IP address or scores.
- Purchases are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
1. Who we are
SoundFind is made by Unique Interactive Games, an Australian business (www.uniquegames.com.au).
Privacy questions: privacy@uniquegames.com.au
2. What the game saves on your device
The game saves the following so it can work:
- your progress, scores and statistics
- your hint balance
- your settings (voice, theme)
- your Daily Challenge history and streak
- whether you have bought Remove Ads (in the app versions where it is offered)
- simple counters the game uses to decide when an ad can be shown
This information is kept in the app's own storage on your device, and we don't receive it. Your device's own backup (for example, iCloud or Google backup) may include it, under that service's settings.
Deleting the app deletes this information. You can also clear it in Settings โ Reset Game Data. Reset keeps your hint balance and, in the app versions where it is offered, your Remove Ads purchase.
3. What we do not collect
Through the game, we do not ask for, collect or receive:
- your name, email address, phone number or age
- your location
- your contacts, photos or microphone
- analytics about how you play
If you choose to join the SoundFind testing group, see Contact (ยง12) for how we handle your email address.
There are no accounts, no chat, and no way to share information with other players.
4. Advertising (iPhone, iPad and Android)
The iPhone, iPad and Android versions show ads from Google AdMob. They pay for the game's development.
SoundFind never asks your age, so we can't know whether an adult or a child is playing. So we ask Google to treat every ad request as if it could come from a child. That means:
- ads are rated for a general audience, so they are suitable for any age;
- ads are not personalised, and are not based on your interests or on what you do in other apps;
- the device's advertising identifier (Apple's IDFA, or Android's advertising ID) is not sent to Google.
To show an ad and count whether it was seen, Google's advertising software still receives some technical information from the device: the device type and operating system, a rough location based on the network connection, an identifier limited to apps from the same developer, which ads were shown, whether an ad was viewed or tapped, and technical performance and crash information. Google handles this under its own policies: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
We do not show you a tracking permission prompt, and we do not ask Google to track you across other apps.
The game shows a full-screen ad, at most, after every 6 completed games. It also offers an optional short ad in exchange for a free hint. There are no ads when the device is offline. Remove Ads turns off the full-screen ads between games. The optional ad for a free hint stays available for players who choose it.
On Windows and in the web version there is no advertising software. Those versions show a sample ad screen instead. It uses stock photos loaded from Unsplash (unsplash.com), so Unsplash receives the device's IP address when a picture loads. No other information is sent.
5. In-app purchases (iPhone, iPad and Android)
SoundFind offers optional purchases: packs of hints, and a one-time purchase that removes ads.
- Payment is handled by Apple or Google, under that store's terms. We never see your card or payment details.
- We use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service, to confirm purchases with Apple or Google and to restore Remove Ads on a new device. RevenueCat receives a random identifier the app creates (not your name, Apple ID or Google account), the products bought, and the store's purchase receipt. Its privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
- On a child's device, the platform's parental controls (for example, Apple's Ask to Buy) can require a parent's approval for every purchase.
6. Voices
The spoken words in the game are recordings included in the app. They were made in advance with text-to-speech software. The game does not record or listen to your voice, and nothing you say is sent anywhere.
7. Error and diagnostic reports
If the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a short technical report to Sentry, an error-reporting service, so we can find and fix the problem. A report contains:
- the error message, and technical details of where in the app's code it happened;
- the app version;
- the device's language and time-zone settings;
- a short list of the technical steps just before the error, such as which sound files had loaded.
A report can also include the steps just before it, such as which buttons were tapped, for example the hint button and the number of hints it shows.
We also send a short diagnostic note when a recorded word or phrase can't be played and the app falls back to your device's voice. It contains the word, if there is one, the reason it couldn't play, the kind of device it is running on (Android, Apple, web or Windows) and whether the device was online at the time.
We have set it up so that reports do not include your name, any account, your IP address or your scores. Like most technical reports, they can include basic details such as the app version, the country the report came from, the type and version of your device's operating system and browser, and your device's language and time zone settings. The app sends no usage tracking, no performance tracking and no session tracking to Sentry. No other reports are sent.
Sentry stores reports in the United States, keeps them for a limited time, and then deletes them automatically. Sentry's privacy policy: https://sentry.io/privacy/
8. Pictures and links
On iPhone, iPad and Android, the game loads no pictures from other websites. On Windows and in the web version, the sample ad screen loads stock photos from Unsplash (see section 4).
Links in Settings, such as this policy, open in your web browser.
9. Children
SoundFind is designed to be safe for children to play:
- no account, no chat, and no sharing;
- no personal information is requested;
- every ad is rated for a general audience and is not personalised (see section 4);
- purchases go through Apple's or Google's own checkout, with its parental controls.
If you are a parent or guardian and have a question, or believe information about your child has reached us, contact privacy@uniquegames.com.au and we will help.
10. Your rights
You can see and change the information the game saves by using the game itself. Settings โ Reset Game Data clears your progress, scores, settings and Daily Challenge history, and keeps your hint balance and, in the app versions where it is offered, your Remove Ads purchase. Deleting the app removes everything it saved. We don't hold a copy of it.
For information the services in sections 4, 5 and 7 hold, you can contact us, and we will help you make a request to them.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top. If a change affects how the game handles information, such as a new service, we will mention it in the app's release notes.
The current version is always at https://www.uniquegames.com.au/soundfind/privacy/
